Official movie weekend!
My “lack of stuff I gotta do” weekend has conveniently coincided with my “every movie I have requested from the library ever has come in at the same time” weekend, so this will be a weekend of watching movies. Including:
- Let the Right One In, which I am so excited for because I loved the book (seriously, if I could make that “loved” red, sparkly, and blinking, I would, just to make sure you get the point);
- Milk, which I shouldn’t have missed in the theater but did;
- Frozen River, which is a serious drama with (reportedly) good acting;
- Walk Hard, which I will watch because I love Dr. Steve Brule (for your health!);
- Changeling, which I am unsure about, but the costumes seem awesome (I love that era);
- Cadillac Records, which may very well suck, but, uh, Beyonce?;
- Happy-Go-Lucky, which was well-liked by an acquaintance with impeccable taste (she may have called it her favorite movie of the year);
- Synedoche, New York, which received many mixed reviews, and may exceed my tolerance for quirk (which is admittedly very low);
- Tropic Thunder, which my mom and brother hated but everyone else loved;
- Atonement, which was popular last year, but I forgot to watch it;
- Into the Wild, which seems to be about the type of pseudo-hippie trustafarian who generally pisses me off greatly;
- Sweeney Todd, which features my husband’s man-crush, Johnny Depp, plus some singing;
- There Will Be Blood, which is historical (good!), based on a book by Upton Sinclair (good! I loved The Jungle), but was directed by P.T. Anderson (not good!) and has a soundtrack by some guy from Radiohead (ugh)
I will report back on my findings. I will not manage to watch all 13 movies—I can assure you of that—but we may get through 5 or 6.
