Cataloging “Vampire in Brooklyn” reminds me of my job (right out of college) as a middle school teacher at a Catholic school on the south side of Chicago. One afternoon, the gym teacher decided to give the teachers a break and brought in a bootleg copy of this fine, R-rated, not very good* Eddie Murphy film and showed it to the middle schoolers. I wonder if it scarred them for life. Or, at least, gave them their first glimpse of boobies**.

Also on the cataloging pile: Leprechaun in the Hood. I intend to add the following note to the record:

520 _ _ “After a long and golden dormancy, the Leprechaun is brought back to life by three bungling rap artists looking to launch their music career.” —Container

*I am not anti-Eddie Murphy. Coming to America is one of my all-time favorite movies, and I can quote it extensively. But this movie sucks.

**Speaking of which: how many of the Gen-Xers out there first saw boobs on TV while watching the uncensored version of Duran Duran’s “Girls on Film” video? I can think of at least three, none of whom are likely reading this. One even saw it in school, thanks to a well-meaning substitute teacher.
